We are truly saddened by the news of Aunt Elsie's passing.... She was a woman who was ahead of her time... so independent and visionary, yet so gracious and always with a friendly smile and conversation. We all knew she had quite the task of keeping Uncle Bud safe from his many ventures, too! From childhood, I remember those large family gatherings at Grandma & Grandpa Marshall's, where we had lively visits and wonderful meals, all clustered around the dining room table.
I'm so glad that Clarke and I were able to visit with Aunt Elsie after Uncle Wil's funeral... She still had that charming smile! We were able to FaceTime with cousin Judy, in Spain, and shared memories, laughs and joyful tears...By then, Aunt Elsie remembered us, and I think that it was as special for her as it was for us....She is the last of that generation, and a remarkable reminder of that family history.
I am so sorry and sad that we cannot attend her funeral in person... I would also have loved to have visited and hugged many relatives once again....
With much love, Joanne (Rueckwald) & Clarke Smith
