Dave, LIsa and familes of your mother, I am so sorry to hear of this news. Nancy and Roy were both good friends of my parents, and I remember them fondly. Nancy would still visit my mom after dad passed away, and I would often run into her at the WIFF, or a concert at McKenzie Hall. Always a pleasure seeing her about town.
My sincere condolenses.

Dave: Deepest condolences to you and your sister and family on the loss of your mother. Lovely obit. I did not personally know her but she was a journalist and, with her husband, raised a fine and respected newsman in this community whom I do know. Thoughts and prayers.

We Weeks kids always held Nancy in high esteem. She was totally captivating with her exotic, glamorous ways- my parents felt the same. When I came back to Windsor some years later and was canvassing for donations for the Bert Weeks Memorial Scholarship fund, Nancy and I reconnected. How lucky! We spent many a happy hour having lunch in Little Italy or shopping, especially at La Stella. How she loved to shop! It was wonderful hearing about her many happy memories with Roy and her children from life in Italy to living on the river in Windsor’s west end. So many anecdotes and poignant stories. Nancy really cherished her work experiences and human experiences. She truly was a people person. I am richer for the recent time we spent together; I will miss her and can only hope to emulate her grace and positive outlook all delivered with her tinkling laughter and gorgeous smile. Sending comfort and peace to the family.

Lisa and David,
I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you during this tough time.
Nancy had such an amazing energy. A quiet grace that was comforting. She always took a genuine interest in my life, and in particular the various music-related ventures I've done over the years. She very much always encouraged me to truly be myself. I will miss catching up with her at family gatherings in the future.
With love,
Nick Benko

Dave: I am very sorry for your loss. I never got the opportunity to meet your mom in person, but after reading the bio about her as well as the condolences, she was quite an extraordinary person. A strong woman, talented journalist, broadcaster and public activist. Such a bright shining light for her grandchildren to follow. I know right now you feel pain and sadness, but I hope and pray that soon you can take comfort when remembering the warmth of the love she shared with you and your family.

Dear Dave and Lisa: Sorry for the loss of your Mother. I always thought of Nancy and Roy as a team I remember seeing them at the D.H. and I was always honoured to be asked to join them for a drink or even dinner. I remember hours of great conversations (even when I was the subject of many jokes due to my long history with Roy). She was always gracious and supremely positive with me. And she was always beautiful!
When I read the notice today I thought of the song: "Forever Young". To me she will always be!
Sincerely,
Rob Miller

Nancy, you will be missed by so many. It has been a longtime since that evening when we all gathered at Wagenbergs—let’s see, there was Bev and Irv and Laurie and Ron and Nancy and Roy and Marilyn and I and Sid Walman of the DH. As I recall Nancy we laughed, told tall tales–especially those told by Roy under your watchful eye–and I played the accordion and Sid sang and we all sang and we all told tales and we all laughed and lived and then somebody said, breakfast is ready....Nancy, you were a wonderful lady and you always will be missed. Condolences to Lisa, David, Brian and to the entire Battagello family. Nancy was a close friend, and we cherished her company. For WIFF, we created our shared calendar of films we would see together. For Bookfest, we did the same for authors and readings. We spent many hours together enjoying Nancy's hospitality and taking about everything from politics and the riverfront to favourite authors. There was always an ease to our conversations, and there was always laughter. We're fortunate that Nancy and Roy entered our lives. Our friendship with Nancy has only grown stronger over the years; we are richer for having known her.
