Just came across this and I'm so sad to find this out. Mr. Malette taught most of the 8 of us at Christ the King. When I walked into
the church for my father's funeral & saw him there (they were both active in the school & parish), it touched me. I would talk to him almost daily at the Windsor Public Library in the years after. Since that department moved into another location I never got to see him any longer, and was just asking if he still went into the Local History department to work on his projects. My deepest condolences to his family, he was such a good person. Sandy (Adamo)

I remember my early days teaching at Assumption and I was blessed with so many outstanding mentors and kind people. Dennis would surely be at the top of that list. I was so impressed by his soft-spoken personality, his gentleness, his kindness, his dedication to the school, and his concern for his students. . And he was an outstanding teacher. I was shocked when he left Assumption because I said to myself, " How can anyone allow this great teacher to leave?" No one gave more of themselves than he did. He was a very special person and has a place in heaven.

Condolences from the Flanagan family. Mr. Malette was my history teacher in grade 11 at Assumption High School. I have always had a great deal of respect for Dennis based on his calm demeanor and candor. Enjoyed the trips to Maggie Valley, North Carolina organized by Reno Bertoia. The world could use more people like Dennis Malette.

My sympathies to Mr. Malette 's family at this time of loss. I first knew him as our grade six history teacher at Christ the King early in his career. He was a kind and capable teacher, imparting an enthusiasm for the subject that influenced me strongly. In later years I would meet him at Assumption Alumni gatherings. He was always ready to share a memory and a laugh. R.I.P. Mr. Malette.

Dennis Malette was a special kind of Teacher. I, as well as others, enjoyed his calm demeanour as a High School History Teacher at Assumption High School. He was very polite and had a positive outlook on life. He was an inspiration to all of us who walked the hallways at Assumption High School in the 80’s! Dennis will be missed sincerly by all of us.

Denis was such a kind soul. Quiet and unassuming. I had the pleasure of being his colleague at Catholic Central. Denis was an excellent educator for students and fellow teachers. I especially liked that twinkle in his eyes. The students loved him because he loved them. I was blessed to call him my friend. Rest In Peace Denis.

Denis was a "foster dad " to me after my parents died. All the good I have in this world is because of him. He was at my high school and university graduations. I will remember him for his crossword puzzles , his love of classical music , his love for high school athletics, his love of reading and so much more. He was my saving grace here on earth and now he is my Guardian Angel . I'm going to miss you but I know you will always be with me. See you on the other side !

Ken and I have known Denis for many years. Ken remembers him from high school and I became acquainted with him as a teacher. In every stage of his life, Denis exhibited commitment, enthusiasm and generosity. His dedication to his profession and to his faith were examples to everyone. We would see him often, quietly slipping into the stands or the gym, with a shy smile and a few comments about the state of the game. He loved the games but he loved the kids more. He was a great teacher and an equally great colleague. We send our sympathy and our thanks to have been a small part of a life well lived.

Deepest condolences to the Malette family for their profound loss. Denis was of the kindest, most gentle and caring person I had the pleasure of knowing.
He was the model teacher who cared and challenged his students to be their best. Every student loved him.
When I was coaching and took my team out of town for a tournament, Denis would often just randomly show up at a game. The players were always so happy to see him.
And, he generously gave of his time and energy heading the bingos for Core City Hoops. If you needed help, you knew if you asked Denis, he would always say yes.
Most importantly, Denis was a man of deep faith.
He will be deeply missed.

Mr. Malette, you were truly a humble and gentle servant of the Lord. I was privileged to have you as a teacher in both elementary and secondary school. I will never forget your ability to share a story with a life lesson or your passion for teaching. You always made sure you took time to catch up with your former students. I will never forget you.
