Obituary of Francois Donald Hamel

HAMEL, Francois Donald “Don” It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Donald Francois Hamel, on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at the age of 54. During his final moments he was surrounded by his close family. Dear son of father Roger Hamel (Julie Lagacé) and mother Antoinette Champagne. Deeply missed by his sisters Gisele Labonté (Harry Wright) and Renée Champagne (Marc Ramsay). Cherished Uncle of Chantal and Richard Labonté, Brandon and Meghan Wright, Yasmine Champagne and Audrey Ramsay. Life long friend of Yves Therrien. He will be missed by many friends, family and the neighbourhood community. Don was a renowned member of the Windsor community, so much, that he was recognized for his contributions by Mayors Drew Dilkens & Mike Hurst as a “Selfless inspiration”. This was easily achieved through his love of being outdoors. Seven days a week, rain or shine, he could be found volunteering to keep the neighbourhood clean and tidy. Don was also a devoted member of the St. Jérôme parish who regularly attended Sunday mass. He was a great role model in regards to positivity and inspiration for those that surrounded him. Until the last day, he lived his life to the fullest. Even on your worst day, he always found a way to turn your day around and make you smile. A one-of-a-kind soul… and as he would say “Don’t worry, be happy.” Arrangements entrusted to WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E, 519-253-7234. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. In honour of Don’s life, donations may be directed to the Hospice of Windsor-Essex County, 6038 Empress St, Windsor, ON N8T 1B5.
