Obituary of Carol Ann Bogden
Bogden, Carol Ann
“I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living, my mother you’ll be.” (Robert Munsch)
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness to announce the sudden passing of Carol Ann Bogden. She died on April 27th at 10:22am in Windsor, Ontario due to lung related complications most likely from sustained damage, a result of Covid that she experienced last year. The family would like you to hold her in your thoughts and prayers at this time. Carol was born May 5th, 1947 in Windsor, Ontario. She is survived by her 3 children Lorree, Shonna (John), Micheal (Abby), her three grandchildren Noah, Kade, Jax, her sister Betty, beloved Wendy and sister in-law Diane.
Caring, compassionate, generous, and ever observant, mom was a quiet contributor to external engagements. Her personality was magnetic though and we were always trying to draw that beauty out of her. We cannot count the number of times people have told us how wonderful your mother is. That news always put a smile on our faces because we knew that already. On the rare occasion that she could be convinced to partake, give that lady a couple of cosmos and she could light up a room. She was a crafter, a contributor to Amazon’s success over the last 4 years or so, and an avid collector of pretty bits and bobs (that could be used for something she always said). As we start to clean through her craftroom, we have considered just putting up a big sign that says OPEN …. For those of you that knew Carol, you knew that she was such a talented quilter – SEW PERFECT!
Mom was devoted to her family and home. We grew up with nutritious lunches and warm meals eaten around the dinner table as a family every day. She was diligent and dedicated in convincing us to pay close attention to our studies. She taught us how to research and navigate a library and encouraged quiet reading and study. Many a late nights she spent pouring over our homework, crafting our finely tuned speeches, patiently listening to the squeaks of our recorders and music instruments. She instilled the value of an education and her mandate of perfect attendance was rewarded. Perhaps in hindsight- it was a means to an end to quiet the house for Days of our Lives and rug hooking?
From getting ready for school each morning to having a collective debriefing of our days at the family supper table, order, routine, discipline and dedication were all underlying factors that both mom and dad created to map the path of success for the Bogden family. It was through this strict environment that the children formed such a supportive coalition with each other. Even though we all live afar, our bonds of connection are solid and our continued friendship has evolved because of our parents commitment to the family.
Although our mother never had aspirations to be a world traveller as that was not her thing, she was definitely worldly in her imagination and offered up sage advice and wisdom. She was always willing to listen to any of her children and the three of us will miss her just being one phone call away. As we reflect back on the tragic loss of both parents in the past 14 months and cull through the void created by all of this sadness, we hope that their pride of family provokes continued smiles over the bonds that they started as they watch and live on through us and with us. Mom and dad, we will be taking you with us everywhere!
“I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought, and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love” (unknown author).
Rest in peace mom and say hello to dad from all of us. We love you forever and always…
