Obituary of Elizabeth Braun

BRAUN, Elizabeth (nee Lux) It is with heartfelt and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elizabeth Braun, a loving wife, mother, Oma and Great Oma on March 16, 2022 at 92 years of age. Loving mother to Rosemary Villemaire and son-in-law Claude, and Betty Ann Dube (2001) and son-in-law Tim Dube. Devoted wife of 57 years to Frank Braun (2011). Cherished sister to Annie Chapman (Rick Chapman) and Philip Lux (1981). Elizabeth adored her grandchildren Kristin Villemaire (Patrick Sackville), Lauren Kolecki (Lucas Kolecki), Rachel Dube, and Chantelle Dube. Proud Great Oma to Blake and Nolan Kolecki, and Everett Sackville, and a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was born in Filipowa, Yugoslavia to parents Josef (1979) and Eva (1968) Lux. Elizabeth and her family endured many hardships in the aftermath of the Second World War including imprisonment in a labour camp. She later immigrated to Canada in 1949 and settled in Kingsville, Ontario where she met her future husband, Frank, at a local dance hall. They married in 1954 and built a beautiful life together with unrelenting dedication to their family. Elizabeth also attended Saint Michael’s German Catholic Church and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for over 40 years. She made every holiday special with her delicious turkey dinners and baked goods. Having withstood the unimaginable loss of her daughter, her unparalleled strength is an inspiration to her family. Elizabeth especially treasured her role as Oma and Great Oma and took great pride in the accomplishments of her grandchildren. Her incredible strength, values, and legacy live on in the hearts and minds of her cherished family. Sincere thanks go out to the entire staff of Riverside Place for their kindness, patience, and compassion in providing Elizabeth with excellent care. Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel) (519-253-7234) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East, on Monday March 21 from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm. Religious service will take place at Windsor Chapel at 1:30 pm followed by burial at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. For those who wish, and in memory of Elizabeth, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
