Obituary of Leo Hayes

HAYES, Leo Theodore
June 4, 1933-March 16, 2022
It is with broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our father after a perfect day with his sons touring the countryside visiting his farms with a final stop at the lake where we shared many family memories, Leo passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at the age of 88. Beloved husband of the late Ann Hayes (nee St. Louis) (2016). Predeceased by his parents Roy and Lillian Hayes (nee Chittle) and his mother and father in-law Beatrice (nee Mullins) and James St. Louis. Loving father of Bonita Moore (Roger), James (Donna), Lawrence, Marilyn Schertzer (Michael), Patti Ann Iannetta (Anthony), Christopher (Krista), and Suzette. Deeply treasured and admired grandfather of Amy Sue (Kevin) and Amanda Moore (Albi), Courtney and Jeffrey Hayes, Rebecca (Ethan), Kaitlyn, and Brandon Schertzer, Christopher and Hannah D’Ambrosio, Adrian and Victoria Iannetta, Liam and McKinley Hayes and adored great grandfather of Henry and Tristan. Predeceased by his siblings Kathleen Reaume (Norbert), Rita Mullins (Leo), John (Ella), Edward (Catherine), Patricia Maitre (Paul), William, Ursula Tracey (Ray), Bernard, Harvey (Marion) and Leroy. Dear brother in-law of the late Marilyn Mailloux (the late Eugene). He will also be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Leo was born and raised on his family’s dairy farm which inspired him to purchase his own farm. Leo retired from Chrysler after 37 years, and continued farming until his passing. He was dedicated to his family and deeply touched the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a genuine interest in talking with everyone he met, and he will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. A special thank you to the amazing and dedicated staff at The Village of Aspen Lakes for your love, compassionate care, and friendship.
