Obituary of Shirley Mary Girling
GIRLING, Shirley Mary (Nee Roberts)
July 13,1930-February 2, 2022
Passed away peacefully and amongst family at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto. First and foremost, Mom was devoted to her family. Predeceased by her husband Richard Girling. She leaves behind her two daughters: Shannon (Peter) Mollard, Simone (Bob) Maxwell and her five grandchildren: Lauren, Grace, Sarah, Julia, and Matthew Maxwell. Shirley was predeceased by her brothers Frank (Patricia) Roberts and Lawrence (Ilene) Roberts and leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario to Frank and Dulcie Roberts, Mom lived most of her adult life in Windsor where she raised her two daughters with her husband Richard. As a young woman, Mom worked at Motor Products in Windsor where she made many friends- something she did throughout her life. Later in life, Mom lived in Toronto closer to her daughters at Delmanor Retirement Home. Above all, Mom loved people; there was no one more important to her than her family and friends. Mom loved life. She loved dancing and singing. She loved a cold beer or a milkshake and chatting with family. Mom never learned how to drive but fortunately she loved walking. At Delmanor, she was well known as the road runner because she was always on the move. Mom’s Catholic faith was of paramount importance to her. She loved attending mass and being part of the community including: Our Lady of Atonement in Windsor and Our Lady of Sorrows in Toronto. Mom forever had a smile on her face and funny expressions that her grandchildren enjoyed. We will miss mom forever. She will forever be in our hearts.
