Boy we had some good times - our "international" dinners, cruises on the Santa Cabello (we looked it up so it literally translates to Holy Mackerel), visiting Gwen and John in Florida and Portugal (they always found the most interesting places and characters). In their home on Twin Lakes, they had a tall, hand-carved, wooden lamp that was oddly appealing in its awfulness. Jim and I always told them how much we liked it. One of my favourite memories is getting a call from Gwen on Christmas Day to look out our front window as they were coming over with a surprise. It was hysterical to see them trudging across the lake carrying this lamp between them. We had that lamp for many years and never looked at it without thinking of Gwen and John. Every time I take out my sewing machine, I think of Gwen who, once she discovered quilting, became amazing at it. And I am grateful that she taught me the basics of this great hobby. She was so proud of all of her family and I send them my sincere condolences. Penny

My deepest condolences to Gwen's family on your loss. Gwen was an amazing woman: kind, smart, curious, warm, generous, wise, and caring. She had a keen mind, was always eager to learn, and showed a genuine interest in other people. She enriched my dad's life immensely these past few years and mine as well. I will miss her dearly and feel honoured to have known her for the too-short time that I did. I have uploaded one of the few photos I have of Gwen. I was out for dinner with her, my dad (Richard ), and my spouse (MJ) at a Mexican restaurant in Windsor in April 2019. All the best, Karen Hobden
