Dear Rob:
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. She was my Girl Guide leader in the '60s and she was a remarkable woman. Several years ago, I had the pleasure of visiting with your mother (and father) at "La Chaumiere" and I was able to tell her just what life-changing effect she had on me. She had a gift for guiding… she was funny, kind, generous and so creative! She encouraged (and subsidized) me to attend Girl Guide Camp. That experience changed my life. It gave me confidence and showed me self-reliance. Subsequently, I had the will and determination to leave home and attend college in Toronto. That led to a successful career in law enforcement and because of her, I am still involved in Guiding today, 50 years later.
When asked “who was the most influential person in my life” I always respond with “Margaret Henry” and I always will.
