My heart goes out to Kathy and family. My husband, Terry knew Gerry for many years through the HMCS Hunter.
We spent many happy times there with Gerry and Kathy -Bingos, cards, many, many parties. Gerry often hosted us and other members of the Hunter group to his home for BarBQ’s after a fun day on the golf course. He always loved a good party!
I like to think he and Terry are now sharing a beer, a song and a good laugh. RIP Gerry. You will be missed.

My Deepest sympathy and prayers for all CPO Taylor's Family.I met Gerry the first night our RCEME unit moved to the HMCS Hunter, he made us young Sargeant's feel welcome, and we enjoyed many a good time there with him. God needed a new CPO in Heaven and CPO Taylor would be just the Fair, Firm and Friendly Man for the job.

You will be missed, Grandpa Gerry. We were lucky enough to be able to spend 10 days in Florida with you, playing golf, swimming in the pool, playing board games, and having late night conversations over beers just months before your passing. I will always cherish those memories.
From a young age, I always enjoyed your BBQ – your ribs especially were one of the formative food moments of my childhood. That never changed as I grew older. I truly enjoyed our grilled turkey we shared at Thanksgiving this year.
Thank you for all of the golf over the years. I think in these last few years, your words of wisdom finally sunk in and I slowed my swing down.
We appreciate you for always being there for our family, attending my wedding, graduation, and many family events. We will miss you. I know the beer is cold where you are now.

My name is Commander Bob Gebbie (retired) and I met Chief Taylor when I was a teenager at the naval reserve unit HMCS HUNTER in Windsor. My ambition was to become a Navy Officer so I asked Chief Taylor what I should he do and his counseled me wisely. With his support and advice I went on to attend the Royal Military College and then spent 25 years in the Royal Canadian Navy. Thank you Chief Taylor!!! I am just one of so many that was touched by the generosity and friendliness of Gerry Taylor. May he rest in peace and enjoy fair winds and a following sea.

My condolences to Gerry's family and friends. A man of strong character, opinions and convictions, his commitment to a project or event, especially in the mess, helped to shape my work ethic. He helped to build and maintain strength within the C & PO' s mess while active and in retirement. Gerry will be missed.

You will be missed…discussions on how we think the Lions will do the next year, and watching the game on American Thanksgiving Day. Talking about the Red Wings and watching games together when we could. Getting me back into playing golf, most of my play has been with you. Trying to find Labatt’s Blue in Florida and the faces you would make when I tried to introduce you to different IPAs. Playing Dominos and various cards games and having lively discussions about what was going on in the world.
You have always been there for us. I admired your work ethic and what you did for charities. You always enjoyed a good party and loved to cook for family and friends. I hope the Blue keeps flowing and the greens are forgivable for you on your next adventure.
Love you, your Joe Boy…

We have known Gerry for almost 30 years. He brought a sparkle back into our mother’s eyes after losing our father three years prior. There are so many reasons that we admired Gerry. He was social, active and determined.
Gerry has a determination and perseverance that is really unheard of. He perseveres when he feels that he needs/wants something. He persevered and graduated from High school in a time when not everyone did, to seeing my mom and deciding that he was marrying that girl, to golfing through tremendous pain to going out for dinner during our pandemic. His perseverance is to be admired. He has been in pain for years particularly his feet and he continued to golf and even dance.
He was such a social butterfly; from casino nights, charity golf outings, gathering neighbors in Florida for the Can/Am competition to dancing at his grandchildren’s weddings, as well as his strong naval social group and serving the community. We joined them on these events when possible and he tried to include as many people as possible.
Gerry had a soft heart and a desire to please his family. His love was strong, his children Shannon, Tamarra and Rachel meant the world to him. He was an involved grandfather who went to weddings, college/high school graduations and was always in the grandkid’s lives encouraging them. If there was a party to attend, he was there with a Blue in hand.
Gerry will be missed by his grandchildren, children, step-children and the community. Cheers to Gerry for a life well lived. We will miss you.
Love – Renee

Dear Kathy & all who loved Gerry
Hearts are broken and sympathies are flowing for the passing of Gerry. He loved his family immensely and is dearly missed by so many. He had a big heart for many things, but firstly for his daughters & wife: Blue & golf come a very close second. I'm truly sorry that he is not here any longer to share his bear hug. Memories will return to comfort those who are grieving. God bless you Chief.

To the entire Taylor family... Sincerest condolences, prayers, and thoughts go out to all of you. Gerry was proud of his Naval roots. At our Naval Vets meeting in June of 2009 he was so proud of receiving the Quilt of Valour. His eyes twinkled when they draped it around him. He will be missed at our meetings. Rest in eternal peace, my friend. Your memory is a blessing... Master Seaman Tony Sisti
