Hristos se Rodi! Christ is Born!

The Heavens opened this Orthodox Christmas morning, celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, Ruzica’s soul left the earthly life on this holy day, to be in a better place where there is no suffering and sorrow. She passed away peacefully with her loving daughter at her side.

Beloved daughter of Zoranca and late Milos Popov, she was born in Srpski Semarton, Romania. Survived by husband Iova of 47 years and daughter Jelica (Aleksandar). Cherished Baba to Milena, Marina and Milica. Loved Cousin to Dara (Dorin), +Brana (Draga), Mile, Zlatibor (Bogdana), Dara, Ljupko (Radovanka), Rada (Radmila), sister-in-law to Angelina (+Milan), Desa (Miosav), Bora (Magda), beloved Ujna to Dragoslava (Cristi), Miriana (Stojan) and Tetka to Zoran (Diana). She will be dearly missed by her in-laws Gruja and Jagoda Stevanov, Angie, Jason and Adam LaMarre also family, Kumovi, and friends here and in Romania.

Ruzica worked as a nurse in the urology department at Judetean Hospital in Timisoara, and then at a general family practice in Teremia Mare, until she came with her husband to Canada in 2001. She loved animals, gardening, watching documentaries, but her favorite pastime was cooking traditional meals, baking pastries for her family and helping raise her most precious and loved granddaughters - they were the most important thing in her life. We will miss her cheery Friday morning phone calls that would start with “Happy Friday'', and her lovingly prepared Sunday family lunches, her guidance, kindness and love.

May she rest in peace, Memory Eternal. “Vjecnaja Pamjat”.

Thank you to Fr Vladimir Vranic for his spiritual support, Dr Elfiki, Windsor Regional Cancer Center, VON nurses, Dr Rukavina and Hospice of Windsor staff for their compassion and care.
