Obituary of Olimpio Ferrera

OLIMPIO FERRERA  

09/10/1944 – 12/23/2021  

 
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Olimpio on December 23, 2021, at 77 years of age.  He passed away peacefully with his family by his side.  He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Elvira (nee Filosa), his dedicated daughters, Mary and Diana, and his beautiful granddaughter, Natalie. Reunited in heaven with his father Domenicoantonio, mother Marietta, In-laws Giuseppe and Angela Filosa, infant brother and sister and son Giacomo (1984).  His is also survived by many relatives in Windsor, Italy, and Toronto. Olimpio was the proud owner of Ferrera Tax & Bookkeeping Services Ltd. Since 1979.  He was a devoted accountant for over 50 years.  His love and compassion for helping people never went unnoticed.  His legacy will continue through his daughters. When he wasn’t “crunching the numbers” or dealing with tax deadlines, Olimpio could be found “doubling down” or saying “hit me” at the blackjack tables.  Olimpio has been a long-standing member of the Caboto Club and Ciociaro Club.  He was also an avid fan of the team A.S. Roma in the European Soccer League.  Forza Roma! We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and support staff, especially Rosemary, who stayed by our sides until the end, in the Intensive Care Unit at Windsor Regional Hospital - Met Campus.  We would also like to thank his many doctors (Dr. Choppa, Dr. Bagga, Dr. Singh, Dr. Anees and Dr. Wilson) for all their exceptional care over the years.  Thank you to our friends and family for always supporting us. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please donate to The Heart & Stroke Foundation and Canadian Diabetes Association.

Visitation at Windsor Chapel (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Ave. On Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 5-8pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Parish prayers at 4:30pm on Thursday. Funeral Mass at St. Angela Merici Church on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 9:30am. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Catholic Cemetery. Reservations are required to attend the parish prayers on Thursday, and for the funeral mass on Friday, please call 519-253-7234 between the hours of 8:30am and 4pm to secure your reservation.
