Obituary of Howard 'Howie' Stallard

Following a lengthy illness, Howie passed away with his loving wife by his side. Starting his career as a CNC machinist, it combined his love of electronics with his natural talent for machining. Throughout his career, he continued his education and took on more responsibilities. At its height, he became VP of Manufacturing. He took great satisfaction in apprenticing others in CNC machining, but his greatest joy was working with his sons, Jeff and Sean. Before his illness, he was employed at Schukra as a manufacturing engineer, he enjoyed the group of people and was happy to be there with them. While he enjoyed his work, his greatest treasure was his family. He shared his interest in sports with his three boys, coaching them in baseball and hockey, never missing a game. In the summer, family time was spent camping and vacationing up north. Becoming Grandpa, he cheered on his grandsons at their baseball, hockey and soccer games, and his granddaughter at her figure skating and music recitals. Passing on his skills for construction, he designed, built and assembled projects with his grandsons. A lifelong Bruins fan, he reveled in being an island in a sea of Leaf fans. He was never quick to judge others, his lifelong motto being, "to each his own." How he shined the most was with his sense of humour and amicable nature. His grandkids adored his jokes and playfulness. He was well-loved by everyone for his easy-going disposition. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 41 years, Caroline (Carrie) née Carr; his sons Jeff (Line), Sean and Ryan (Arielle); his grandchildren Edwin, Quincy, Katherine, Eloise and Brody; his siblings Sandee McCarthy (the late Michael), Dale, Gordon, Janee, Stanley (Dawn) and James (Chris); his sisters-in-law Diane Carr and Pam Beneteau (Brad); and brothers-in-law Joe Carr (April) and Mike Carr (Michele); and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, James Gordon Stallard and Mary (née Munro). The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Windsor Regional Hospital and Hotel Dieu for their compassionate and tender care over the past twelve months. Donations can be made in Howard’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Brain Injury Association of Windsor Essex County. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel), 11677 Tecumseh Rd.
