I have known Andy since about 1990 - we served together in the Naval Reserve. Although we did not live in the same city, I nevertheless saw him a number of times over the years on exercises and courses, often in other countries. Many years later, I was Commanding Officer of HMCS Hunter and Andy was there in Windsor, but was already retired (2011). He was passionate about 'The Hunter' and about history, so I appointed him Unit Historian (a position normally given to a member of the ship's company). He served with distinction and was involved in all things Navy in the community - Hunter events, RCNA, Navy League, etc. His contributions were certainly felt and he was a great supporter for me personally.
I am saddened by Andy's passing, but am comforted by the fine memories I have of him and the knowledge that he is now resting in a better place. My condolences to the family and close friends, of which there are many.
We will remember him.
