HANSON, Elsie

May 24, 1932 - October 23, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbour. Elsie was predeceased by her loving husband Robert in 2019 after sharing 62 years of marriage. Beloved mother to Steven, Louise Hanson (Larry Chin), David (Jen Dupuis) and Philip (Nicole). Cherished grandmother to Amanda, Brianna, Rachel, Evan, Emma, Trevor and step-grandma to Abbigale, Derek, Matilda, Abby, Jessica, Rachael, Matthew and Michael. Sister to late Ada Savoy, late Rita Palmer, late Keith MacKnight and Lois McIntosh (John). She will be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews and friends from all walks of life. Elsie was very committed to her community, a long-standing member of St David's United Church in New Brunswick, then St. Barnabas Anglican Church and the Pollyanna Group. She enjoyed great friendships with residents and staff at Chartwell Oak Park Retirement Home where she and Dad lived since selling the family home on Turner Road where they lived for 54 years.

Elsie was born and raised in New Jersey, New Brunswick and brought her East Coast charm to Windsor when she came to marry Robert. She was delightful, caring and hospitable and always made room around her table for friends and family and for those in need. She had a wonderful way of making everyone around her feel special. She especially enjoyed a good laugh and a good story surrounded by family and friends. She was well known and appreciated for her endless generosity, talented baking skills and her love of sweets.

Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd E 519.253.7234 on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 11:30 am. Interment to follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens. Reservations to attend the funeral service are required as space is limited. Call 519-253-7234 between 8:30 -4 to book.
