I will always remember Uncle Bill for his big heart, big smile, big hugs and his selfless devotion to his family. His love had no worldly boundaries. Showing his family pride, every November, he would place small Canadian flags at the grave sites of family members who fought in the World Wars to honour their service. My Dad (Charlie), Uncle Fred, Uncle Lloyd, Uncle Harry, Auntie Anne and his Dad (Jacob) all received this honour. During my Dad’s last few years, Uncle Bill was always there for him as his driver, shopper, snow plougher, grass cutter, sounding board and closest companion, never asking for or taking anything in return. I remember Uncle Bill bought the first colour TV in the family in the mid 1960’s. He would invite my family over to watch Hockey Night in Canada. He and Dad would cheer, drink beer and eat chips - lots of chips. Thank you Uncle Bill for my wonderful memories which I cherish. Please give my Mom, Dad and my Sister (Lynne) a hug for me. Never good bye - just until we all meet again.
