Obituary of Douglas Brett Jr

BRETT, Douglas Balfour

Passed away Oct 19, 2021, after a long courageous battle.
Cherished husband and soul mate of Carol (nee Hatnean). Beloved father of Amanda, Gary, Sean. Loving brother of Dick (Michelle), Bob (Joanne), Patricia (late Donald), late Jerry (late Michelle), late Edward (late Marguerite), late Frances Knipe, late Wilbur (Judy), and late Cecilia Begley. Predeceased by his parents Douglas & Dora Brett and nephew Paul Brett. Survived by many nieces and nephews.

Doug worked for many years as a contractor. He was a stunt Hells Driver for years, and loved to travel with the show. All who met Doug (Ko-Ko clown) loved him. He kept his sense of humor to his last breathe, I had him thinking he was fishing. Doug loved his boat, and was an avid fisherman. He touched many lives with his gentle soul and big heart, filled with kindness. Brother Jerry played Santa for Children's Aid for many years, Doug was his elf. They delivered toys to families every year. What fun memories. Doug was so talented and his knowledge in everything was a Godsend. Doug proved the mind is the most powerful tool we have. His determination  to live was so apparent. He taught us so much.

A "heartfelt "thank you to the many people who provided outstanding care on this journey. Dr.Cargill at Hospice, and all the hospice team, to his nurse Jen Candusso, and all Paramed staff. Sandy Kocsis, and all Carepartners team, Prorest and staff, who kept him breathing, and to Medica Pharmacy, who were right here when needed. To Dick and Michelle, and Bob and Joanne, who helped us throughout  the past 3 years, while Doug was bedridden.  To Windsor  Chapel (TJ), Andrew and Staff for providing us with such compassion, from their hearts..you are all Angels. God Bless Each Of You.

Last, I want to give a big heartfelt "Thank You" to our lovely daughter Amanda, who not only took care of her dad everyday, and got him whatever was needed, but also took care of me throughout this journey. Her heart is huge, just like her dads. We will always remember to always be strong for him, just the way he taught us both. We were so blessed to have such extraordinarily people helping us...we could not have done this without all of you. Thank You Angels.

Carol & Amanda
