Obituary of George Corriveau
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of George Corriveau, just shy of 87. Devoted husband of 58 years to Rita (Janisse) Corriveau. Loving father of Blain (Claudia), Dean (Angela), Lee Ann Ford (John) and Nicole Tuhtan (Emo). Proud grandfather of Adam and Grace Corriveau and Maddie Ford. George hails from a family of 11 siblings, late Eileen (Raymond) Pilon, late Lenore (Harvey) Brush, late Donald (Joan) Corriveau, Joan (late Walter) Prymack, Gerry (late Margie) Corriveau, late Eddie (late Sharon) Carriveau, Bernice (Dennis) Walsh, Tom (Joann) Corriveau, Carol (John) Harcarufka and Gail (late Tom) Melrose, produced by the tireless Jean and Calix Corriveau. George played hockey as an enforcer defenseman for The Detroit Red Wings farm team. He then unleashed his fighting spirit overseas as an expert gunner in the 1st medium tank battalion of the U.S. Army. He would go on to coach hockey for years and mentor some players that would reach the NHL. George was a hardworking, salt of the earth, jack of all trades and a purveyor of humility and humour. If we carry in us a fraction of who he was we may consider ourselves fortunate. We are all richer for having spent time in his company. Arrangements entrusted to Windsor Chapel, 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. A mass to celebrate George's life will take place at St. Anne's Church, on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Reservations are required to attend the Funeral Mass.
