Obituary of Alice Estelle Cupryniak
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother in her 96th year from Covid-related causes. She was the wife of the late Chester (1984) and the daughter of Frank and Mary Kaniewski. Survived by her daughters Karen DiVito (Ron), Susan Aussant (Dan), son Phillip, sisters Frances Miller and Beverly Nykor as well as 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son David (1999), and brothers Ted Kaniewski (2011) and Robert Nykor (2016).

Alice enlisted in the Navy during WWII and served two years as a W.R.E.N. She went on to work for many years at the County Court House in the Sheriff’s Office.

Suffering the usual effects of growing up during the depression, Alice never let that overshadow her life. She was a fantastic self-taught cook and her home was a gathering place for family, friends, and neighbours. From an early age she was a voracious reader and continued this love affair with books until she was no longer able to. She was also an avid gardener and an accomplished rug hooker. Her grandchildren especially loved her playful nature and her creativity. The rest of us remember her selfless devotion to family and her ever-present sense of humour.

Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Village of Aspen Lake for the care and kindness shown to our mother and to the rest of our family members.

As per Alice’s wishes, cremation has taken place, with interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Windsor Chapel (CENTRAL CHAPEL) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519-253-7234. If so desired, donations may be directed to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor-Essex County, 2135 Richmond St, Windsor, ON N8Y 0A1.

“Do Widzenia mama. Spoczywaj w pokoju.”
