CALVARUSO, Giacomo "Joe"

His life was well lived and he was well loved! The Lord called him home peacefully at the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County, with his family by his side, on September 20th in his 87th year. Giacomo will be forever missed by his wife of 67 years Francesca (nee Grillo) and his children Sam (Josie) and Peter (Christina). Family was the pivotal essence of Giacomo’s life. He was proud and honoured to be Nonno to Alessia (Andrew), Sabrina (Gregory), Giacomo (Anna Maria) and Amanda (Peter). However, his most favourite role was established when he became "Nonnino" to Adrian, Audrey, Vienna, Rocco, Luca, Cristiano and Matteo.

Born in Italy and immigrating to Canada in 1965, Giacomo spent his life as a hardworking and faithful man. He was predeceased by his parents Salvatore and Vita, his brothers Sebastiano, Francesco (Bina) and sister Olivia (Giuseppe). He is survived by his loving brothers Baldassare (Renata) and Giuseppe (Enza). Cherished brother-in-law to Vincenzo (Rosa), Vincenza, Giuseppe, Francesco (Rosa), Pasquale (Enza), Angela, Tommaso (Lisa). He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank all the health care professionals from Windsor Regional Hospital - Cancer Centre for their great care over the years and are sincerely grateful to the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County who comforted and cared for him in his last few days. Giacomo will be forever remembered for his infectious smile, storytelling, magic tricks and sense of humor. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519) 253-7234 on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 2:00 - 5:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm. Parish prayers at 4:30pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at St. Angela Merici Church (980 Louis Ave. at Erie St. E.) at 11:00am. Private entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Masks are required to attend visitation and Funeral Mass. Reservations are required to attend the Funeral Mass. Please call Windsor Chapel between the hours of 8:30am and 4:00pm to secure your reservation. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to honour Giacomo may be made to Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.
