Obituary of Antonio Letteri
LETTERI, Antonio “Tony”
March 23, 1936 - August 14, 2021
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father, nonno, brother, and uncle Antonio (Tony) Letteri at the age of 85. He passed away after a brief struggle with cancer at Huron Lodge (Windsor, Ontario) with family by his side. Devoted husband of the late Genevieve (Mazurek, 2011). Dear father of Mark and father-in-law of JoAnne (Grado). Loving nonno (grandfather) of Marie. Survived by brothers Alfredo (Frances) and Isidoro (Violetta, 2019) of Windsor and Bruno (Lilliana) of Sulmona, Italy. Missed by many nephews, nieces, and friends. Predeceased by parents Agostino, Santina, and Teresa of Sulmona, Italy.
Tony immigrated to Canada from Sulmona, Italy in 1956 at the age of 20. He worked at Canadian Builders Supply and Ontario Cabinet Makers. Tony enjoyed bowling, dancing, photography, hunting, and especially trapshooting, a sport in which he achieved great distinction. He was a long-standing member of the trapshooting club in Harrow and Caboto Club in Windsor. Everyone at Huron Lodge knew Tony. He was Gen’s caregiver for years and was always ready to help out other residents when needed. Tony loved to garden and the Windsor Star published a story about “Tony’s Garden” at Huron Lodge. Our deepest thanks to all the staff members at Huron Lodge, especially those in the Willow unit, for their help and kindness through the years and especially in his final days.
