Obituary of Roma Cutrone

Roma Patricia Cutrone (nee Abate) of Windsor, Ontario, passed away on July 24, 2021, a the age of 74. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Onofrio, her children Anthony (Lucy), David (Linda), and Gina (Doug), and her grandchildren Amanda and fiancé Donald, Alessandra, Alana, Owen, and Phillip.

Dear sister of the late Adelaide, Margaret (Mario) and Barbara. Dear sister-in-law to the late Felice, the late Giuseppe, the late Mario, the late Pasqua (the late Pasquale), the late Damarida (the late Vito), Ernesta, and Agata. Loving aunt to many nephews and nieces in Canada and Italy.

Roma passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. Throughout her illness, she remained positive and always found something to appreciate in every moment. Her strong faith guided her each day of her life. She was born December 23, 1946, in Port Arthur, Ontario, to the late Louis and Mary Abate. Dearest daughter-in-law to the late Antonio and Benedetta of Italy.

In Windsor, she was a proud working member of the health care system with a career of over 30 years, working for physicians, and the longest part of her career was working at WRH (Ouellette Campus). Her hard work helped her children achieve the success that she dreamed for them. She enjoyed reading, cooking, canning, and baking. In good times and in bad, she always ensured her family that their home was filled with love and laughter. Roma had a gentle voice and a beautiful smile. She had a remarkable ability to make anyone who knew her to feel warmer. Her most cherished role was that of “Nonna” to her grandchildren. While our hearts break and we mourn her loss, we are comforted knowing that the grieving will give way to many “Nonna” stories in the future. She will be missed by many good friends and by everyone who knew her.

The family would like to thank and acknowledge the exceptional care of Dr. Kay and the Cancer Centre team, Dr. Bergeron, Dr. Fortuna, and all the PSWs and nurses who cared for Roma with compassion throughout her illness and especially in the last few days of her life.

Visitation will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519-253-7234 on Tuesday July 27, 2021 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. Prayers Tuesday at 4:30pm. A private Funeral Mass will be held at St. Angela Merici Church. Entombment to follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Please note that in following with Covid-19 guidelines, funeral and entombment will be by invitation only. Masks are required for attending visitation and Funeral Mass. In place of flowers, the family asks that if you so wish, donations in memory of Roma may be made to the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre.
