We lived across the street from the Westfall family on Fairview blvd. from when I was an enfant thru grade 6. I was an only child yet felt very embraced by their large warm-hearted family.
Judy and I were close friends but we all played together, Rosemary, Tommy, Mary Ann and sometimes younger Paul as he grew- baseball, wagons, bikes, tree climbing, jumping off our garage roof, endless games of pretend.
Mr. Westfall taught me to swim at Stop 26 and the family even included me on camping trips to Rondo park. I enjoyed meals around their large family table, sometimes followed by rosary in the living room.
Tom was energetic, fun and funny. Sometimes pestering Judy and Rosemary as any younger brother does. It was obvious how much they loved one another and truly showed care and concern for one another even as young children.
I was saddened to also just read of Rosemary’s passing in 2019.
I visited her in Chatham when I passed thru Windsor with my then new born daughter in 1983. It was wonderful to see her again and to be remembered! We’d moved off the street in grade 7 so it had been many years. I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to locate Judy during that visit. I plan a return to Windsor in the next year or so and would like to visit Judy if possible. I’d be grateful if a family member could let me know the best way. (Barronshanti@gmail.com)
I have attached an old photo left to right of Paul, Tom, Judy, myself, Mary Ann and Rosemary on the Rondo Park dock, all in a line and soaked after one of our endless jumps off the dock- we’d scurrying back up the wooden ladder, followed by another jump in-fun times!
Very fond early childhood memories of a lovely family and sweet devoted parents Mr. and Mrs. Westfall.
Sincere condolences on the loss of your dear brother Tom. Wishing you all peace and comfort.
