Obituary of Stefan Popescu
Fanel "Stefan" Popescu
April 18, 1958 – July 3, 2021
With great sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Stefan Popescu.
Stefan was born to Adelina and Paul Popescu in the small village of Ianca, Romania. From a young age, he was full of energy and passionate about anything mechanical. He began his career in the pharmaceutical machinery industry with Technophar in Romania and immigrated to Canada in 1999 with his first wife Doina and son Catalin Gabriel. He since worked as a supervisor at Technophar’s headquarters in Windsor.
Although he was high spirited, the hardships of life did not avoid him. He was the rock of the family while Doina underwent cancer treatments and remained a strong role model after her passing in 2005.
Remarrying in 2006 to Carmen, he found peace, happiness, and friendship. He opened his heart to his new extended family and loved them as his own.
He was very proud of his roots and involved with the Romanian community as a member of the Graiul Romanesc and the Romanian Orthodox Church. He touched many hearts with his humour, his patience, and his positive energy. He was a kind, caring person who enjoyed being with friends and family. His death left a void in the hearts of those who loved him. We know he will be with us in spirit.
Stefan will be reunited with his parents Adelina and Paul, his sister Lidia, his grandparents Zina, Spiridon, Fica and Iancu, and with Herman Victorov whom he greatly appreciated and respected. He will be remembered by his wife Carmen Popescu, son Gabriel Popescu and wife Meghan, step-daughter Andreea Dancu and husband Razvan (Paul and Alex), sister-in-law Rodica Olariu and husband Ioan (Calin, Ioana, and David), and niece Irina Rizea and husband Marius (Thomas). He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
