Obituary of Roger Aloysius Garant

GARANT, Roger Aloysius It is with loving hearts that the Garant family announces the passing of their beloved Roger, on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at WRH- Met Campus, at the age of 89. Born in Windsor, Ontario. Loving husband to the late Jacqueline (nee Hebert), with whom he shared a blessed 63 years of marriage. Cherished father to Brian Garant (Laura), Terry Garant (Lori), David Garant (Christine), Melissa Kaiser (Gerry) and Tim Garant (Helen). Loving Grandpa to 15 beautiful grandchildren. Proud great Grandpa to 9 wonderful great grandchildren, and 1 great grandbaby on the way. Dear son of the late Ernest and Valerie (nee Plante). Predeceased by his siblings, Raymond (Evelyn), Dennis (Barbara) and Ernest Jr. (surviving Annette). Roger will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Roger retired from FORD Motor Company after 42 years. He was a past President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and enjoyed singing for the choir with Jacqueline. He enjoyed watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Lions and Tigers. He loved to watch the grandchildren’s extracurricular activities throughout the years and was always in the crowd to cheer them on. Thank you to Dr. McLeod, Dr. Bergeron, Amanda, and all the nursing staff at Met Hospital, for their care and compassion shown to Roger. A special thank you to Judy Hawkins at Shoreview for spending extra time with our Dad when we were not able to. Arrangements entrusted to WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel), 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519- 253-7234. A private family service will take place and interment will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Once restrictions allow, a celebration of Roger’s life will be held. As your expression of sympathy, donations made in memory of Roger directed to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 1245 Lauzon Rd., Windsor, ON, N8S 3M9, are welcomed and appreciated by the family.
