Our deepest sympathy and condolences to you Frank, the family, and to the extended family, upon hearing the tragic heartbreaking loss of our special, great, and beloved Family Doctor. My mother and I were one of the first patients of Dr. Yanchula, at her first location on Huron Church Rd. I was a young teenager and now I’m 35yrs old. Dr. Yanchula, to me was like a mother. The care I received from Dr. Yanchula, was the same care you would receive from your mother! She helped me tremendously and motivated me during my difficult times. The conversations we had will never be forgotten. I learned soo much from Dr. Yanchula, who ALWAYS, showed compassion, love, and put a smile to her patients. I honestly, can say that ALL your patients were fortunate, blessed, and grateful to have such an amazing and dedicated Doctor in their lives.
You will be greatly missed FOREVER! Your name will always be mentioned in my prayers.

I send my deepest condolences to Catherine’s extended family. It was a terrible shock to wake up to this heartbreaking news, and I truly feel like I have lost a member of my own family. Catherine cared for my mother Aileen as her family doctor for many years, and provided a level of care (and caring) that was unprecedented. A few months after my mother passed away, Catherine followed up with me by phone and we spoke for a very long time. She shed light on some deeply resonate philosophical ideas related to end-of-life care that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I left the conversation feeling comforted by her wise words and observations, never realizing that this would be the last time I would speak to her. I am so thankful that before we said goodbye, I told her how much she meant to my mother and me, the profound difference her ongoing involvement made, and how extraordinarily privileged my mother was to have been under her care. Dr. Catherine Yanchula is simply irreplaceable, and will be sadly missed, forever and always.

I knew Catherine for long working in the adjacent office building.
I could gather from the referrals she made and from her patients that she was so dedicated, meticulous and caring .
Often I saw her dragging a large carry on across the parking lot likely unfinished office work.
Even at the end of the day she had a gracious smile and I am sure she enjoyed her work so much and I also knew she had a simple healthy life style.
so saddened by her passing away and our thoughts are with her family.

It was my honour and privilege to have known Dr Catherine for over 22 years...first as her patient...then as her friend. The way she cared for her patients went far beyond what anyone would expect. Her thoughtfulness, kindness, compassion and overall attention to detail and ability to listen were unmatched by any doctor I've ever met. Just like many others, it was my good fortune that she agreed to become my family doctor all those years ago ( she was no longer taking new patients at the time.) It didn't matter how busy she was...she always made me feel as though I mattered as a person. I likely would not even be here had it not been for her...she saved me in so many ways. My heart is with her husband Frank and all her family and friends who loved her dearly. It is my hope that her beautiful, healing spirit and gentle ,caring ways will inspire others to be more like her...to do better...be better human beings. I can still hear her sweet laugh and see her brilliant smile. The world is a better place because of Dr Catherine and for that we are so lucky.

I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Yanchula 20+ years ago. At the end of Mass Fr. Larry Brunet congratulated Dr. Yanchula on her marriage and new profession (Family Physician). Being in need of a new doctor I approached her, not only did she take myself but my daughter and mother as well. What Fr. Larry didn’t say was that her new practice was already closed to new patients. Dr. Yanchula took us anyway and for that and the exceptional, beautiful doctor, friend, human being she was I will be eternally grateful.
As many others have said she will be a tremendous loss to her family, friends, patients and our community.

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its lovliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.
Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing
A flowery band to bind us to the earth,
Spite of despondence, of the inhuman dearth
Of noble natures, of the gloomy days,
Of all the unhealthy and o’er-darkn’d ways
Made for our searching: yes, in spite of all,
Some shape of beauty moves away the pall
From our dark spirits. Such the sun, the moon,
Trees old and young, sprouting a shady boon
For simple sheep; and such are daffodils
With the green world they live in; and clear rills
That for themselves a cooling covert make
‘Gainst the hot season; the mid-forest brake,
Rich with a sprinkling of fair musk-rose blooms:
And such too is the grandeur of the dooms
We have imagined for the mighty dead;
An endless fountain of immortal drink,
Pouring unto us from the heaven’s brink.

It is with great sadness that I learned yesterday of Dr. Catherine Yanchula’s passing. I knew Dr. Yanchula from my role as the campus Dean for the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry’s Windsor Campus (2011-2018). Dr. Yanchula took on many roles at the Windsor Campus, not the least of which she was a member of the campus’ senior leadership team as an Academic Director regarding Family Medicine at the undergraduate level.
No doubt, she has profoundly and positively touched many lives - both as a clinician and as a medical educator. Medical learners always had awesome things to say about her and she was routinely approached to mentor and assist students. She did so with grace, competence, humility and respect. She greatly contributed to the exceptional learning environment at this campus, often finding new ways to contribute as she did with creating and hosting professional development opportunities for her physician peers. It is not surprising that she was among the very first to receive a Windsor Campus Achievement of Excellence Award.
My deepest condolences to Frank and family.

In our family she was known as dr. Yanchula. Dr. Yanchula was our family doctor since 1998. Dr. Yanchula was more than our family doctor she was a listening ear, an open heart a very compassionate woman. Catherine's knowledge and patience was outstanding. Catherine's taste in clothing and accessories was the best, how many times I stopped talking about my symptoms to comment on her shoes, earrings, jewellery; she was always colour coordinated. I crocheted for her some Christmas decorations, she loved to decorate her office and rooms for Christmas, and all the other Holidays. My heart goes to Frank, Jim and Margaret. My dearest dr. To the family of Cathy, I send my deepest condolences and much gratitude for the loving, caring support and friendship I shared with Cathy so many years ago in Girl Guides. She was a bit older then myself but we shared many fun times at her home in Riverside so many years ago and she was always around to help me when i needed further guidance. I will never forget her and I hope that when you read this memory it might bring a smile upon your face when you think " yes, that is our Cathy."

When our family arrived in Windsor in November 1998, we became part of Dr Yanchula's brand new practice. We had 3 boys- 7,6,and 3 weeks old at the time. She cared for them like they were her own children. She remembered who their best friends were, their triumphs and struggles at school, mentored our oldest son Chris through medical school and beyond, and counseled all 3 as needed. She was an angel to my Mom, lovingly caring for her until her death in 2019, and was a patient, compassionate, extraordinarily competent physician for all of us. Catherine was truly one of a kind. We will miss her very much. Please accept our sincere condolences, and know that Catherine made an extraordinary impact in so many lives.

I was a classmate of Cathrine’s in Nursing. She was a very intelligent woman, in deed a bright light and it did not surprise any of us when she went on to Med School. I remember working late at nights with her doing our final fourth year group project. She took us all to her house and we spent many a hour around the table getting a perfect paper together. She was a natural leader but always allowed us all to make suggestions for change. Indeed she would sit in class not taking notes but knitting amazing sweaters. She will be missed by the medical, nursing and community as a whole. My deepest condolences to her husband and family.
