Obituary of Gianni Di Pietro

DI PIETRO, Gianni (John)
Nov. 4, 1954 - May 27, 2021

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our wonderful and loving dad Gianni (known as John).  Dad was born in Prezza, Abruzzo.  He and his family immigrated to Canada in 1963.  He is reunited in heaven with his loving parents, Antonio (1986) and Assunta (2012) along with his beloved big brother (NiNi) Franco (2016) who he missed immensely.  Caring and loving partner of Lisa Joinville, who he loved with all his heart.  Loving and devoted dad to his four daughters, Franca and husband Mike Posloski, Assunta (Susie) and husband Tony Palermo, Erica Di Pietro, and Alexa Di Pietro.  John will be missed terribly by his sister Maria and husband Vince Di Stefano and sister-in-law Filomena Di Pietro.  Loving Nonno/Papa to his grandchildren Miranda (Aaron), Gianni, Savannah, Zienna, Celina (Mo), Chelsea and Anthony.  Loving Uncle/Unchi to all his nieces and nephews in Windsor and Michigan.  Will be missed by his loving and large Di Pietro family who he always looked forward to spending time with.  Dad was always so touched for how many calls, visits and affection that was shown to him by all his Di Pietro cousins.  Our dad had many health obstacles throughout his life, but he endured them with strength, courage and optimism and he never gave up.  You could find him cutting his grass, shoveling his snow, or sitting on the back porch smoking his cigarette. Dad worked hard his entire life.  Through 32 years of Chrysler, he still found the time to be the best handy man in town.  After retirement and even through sickness, he could never stop creating and building. He will be missed beyond words, but his memory will live on forever in our hearts.  We love you dad, you will never be forgotten.  Special thanks to all of dad’s neighbors and friends for their love and affection.  Thanks to Medica pharmacy, Dr. Oozeer, Dr. Huang, Dr. Gupta, Dr. Glanz, Dr. Dhar and Dr. L. Albano for all their care and help given to our dad.  A special thank you to Dr. Nicole Freeman, the Cancer Centre staff, Met ER staff and all the nurses from Paramed.  Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Sunday, May 30, 2021, from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Private funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 31, 2021, at 11:00 am at St. Angela Merici Church.  Reservations and masks are required to attend the visitation, please call 519-253-7234 between 8:30-4:00 p.m. In kindness, donations may be made directly to the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre Foundation.
