Obituary of Leona Yvonne Hanssens

HANSSENS, Leona Yvonne (nee Gaytant) 

April 19, 1940 – April 18, 2021 

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 18, 2021, just a day before her 81st birthday. Cherished wife of Etienne Hanssens for 60 + years. Best friend and mother of Ricky Hanssens. Dear daughter of Joseph and Julia Gaytant (nee Vanhrelewyn). Beloved sister of Marie-Madeleine and late Solange and late Gerard. Leona will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Leona immigrated to Canada to be with Etienne and start a family. She worked at General Motors before retiring and spending her winters in Florida with Etienne and Ricky. Leona loved to make others happy, and she enjoyed life. She was a very strong woman and a fighter. As per Leona’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
