Just found this obituary when Googling people I once knew.
My childhood friend on Greendale Drive in Riverside. John would come to my house every morning and instead of knocking would go "Tim-my" in a sing song manner. This was my call to head out and play all day!
We moved away at the end of grade 6, but I remember John as the guy that taught me to back-dive, back-flip, and build treehouses. A great kid to have as your best friend.
A nice family too. I remember Mary and Patricia and parents Ted and Marie.
Fond memories.

All of us in Dowdell Families, and particularly Tim & Sarah & kids, share the Gorski family & friends sadness in John’s passing. So many years of great memories. John reminded us to focus on quality events & relationships, and not being afraid of what others might think. He had character and appropriately left us being reminded that “Gorski Will Handle It”. Condolences & Prayers for Collette, Nic, Sam, Mary, Patty, and families

Deepest Condolences. The news of John's passing hit hard. Knowing John was a pleasure. My fondest memories are from the year's John became a valued member and teammate of our ice canoe crew. His physical fitness and dynamic competitive spirit became a huge asset to the team. The dedication to training for the premier race each February in Quebec City involved months of seriously hard work and John was key in keeping the focus. We would share so many cold nights out on the Peche Island Channel and on frozen Lake St. Clair running, rowing, and hauling the big ice canoe over pressure ridges and across ice floes. John would use his skills to add features to our big canoe that made things safer and more efficient. When Toronto hosted an Ontario Championship before the big Quebec event our team won. Everyone on the Team Windsor crew admired John. Personally, I also enjoyed time on the water kayaking with John. He will be missed. To Colette and his daughters, please know John was loved and respected.

I am truly saddened to here of John’s passing. From the first time I met John back in track and field in high school to the many escapades we shared, training together , hunting , spring breaks in Florida, parties , to running across the frozen St.Lawrence and eventually being my best man. Even though our life paths took us on different paths I have often thought back on his friendship and it has always brought a smile to my face. My sincere condolences Colette and family.
