Obituary of Jose Da Silva
Jose “Joe” Da Silva
October 13th, 1949- April 10th, 2021
Passed away on April 10th, 2021 at the age of 71. Loving and devoted father to Christopher Martin Da Silva (Patricia), Liana Louiza Sharma (Ronny), and Michael Joseph Da Silva (Lisa). Beloved grandfather to Sai, Zia, Anna, Charlotte, Eve, and Cecilia. Reunited with parents Maria Francelina do Pilar Pires and Luis Alberto da Silva, as well as his son Ryan Louis Da Silva. Survived by many cousins in both Canada and Portugal.
Joe was a passionate lifelong learner with a genuine curiosity about world history and world events. He was known for always being up for conversation with family, friends, and neighbours either over good food and wine or coffee (a bica) at a local Tim Horton's or café in Portugal. Wherever Joe would go, he would make a new friend through sharing stories and conversation.
Joe cherished his beautiful family home and beach house in Portugal. He worked hard to take care of the farmland and orange tree orchards that have been a part of his family for generations. His family enjoyed having a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice with him at the farm house on a hot summer day.
During his retirement years he frequented Portugal, enjoying his love for its good food, wine, and sandy beaches. He also loved travelling to new places and sightseeing along the Algarve coast, going from beach to beach. He was always ready to go on adventures and experience new things.
Joe looked forward to his weekly lunch and dinners with his good friends while he was in Portugal. He also enjoyed going to weekend festivals, such as the Festival by the Sea, and dances to listen to Portuguese music.
In his family, Joe will be remembered for his unconditional love and devotion to his family, children and grandchildren.
