Obituary of Teresa Lori
It is with broken hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Teresa Lori (nee Lini) on Monday, March 29, 2021.
Teresa was a loving and generous person to whom family came first. Her quiet demeanor and sweet disposition made her loved by all who knew her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, nonna, sister, sister-in-law, and zia and will be forever missed. Teresa never complained and always saw the beauty in the world.
A completely lovely person, Teresa was the definition of kindness, patience, and gentleness. Always hard working, she never backed away from whatever needed to be done. She had several interests and was often found preparing delicious meals for large gatherings of family and friends. Trained as a seamstress, Teresa would spend her spare time sewing and knitting. She loved singing and enjoyed tending to her rose garden.
Born on June 12, 1930 in her beloved village of Osoli, Roccafluvione, Ascoli Piceno, Italy, Teresa met her future husband Italo Lori, in Italy. Travelling alone and without being able to speak English, she left her family and courageously braved the long boat trip aboard the Vulcania to Pier 21. She joined Italo and married him on December 31, 1951 at St. Angela Merici Church, in Windsor Ontario. Teresa was an exceptional partner to Italo. Together, they sponsored over a dozen family members from Italy and helped them to start a new life in Canada. She held several jobs throughout her life but was most proud of her work with the Roman Catholic Children’s Aid Society as a Homemaker, providing help to many families in need.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Italo, daughter, Ginetta (Gina) Lori Riley (late Robert Riley), granddaughter, Jessica and Teresa’s siblings, the (late Erminia and Marco Panetta), Maria Bartolini (late Domenico), Angelo and Giuliana Lini, Giorgio and Anna Lini, Serafino (Sal) and Domenica Lini; her brothers-in-law Adamo (late Lina), Alfredo (late Beverly), sisters- in-law, (late Francesca and Silvio Marini), Agnese Tassotti (late Gaetano), and family in Canada, United States, Australia, and Italy. She is predeceased by her parents Pietro and Elvira (Taddei).
The family would like to give special thanks to all of the personal support workers, Para Med nurses, Dr. Patrick Smith, and Drs., Staff, and nurses from Hospice, especially, Dr. Bergeron who assisted in her care.
