It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Teresa Martino on March 15, 2021 at 89 years of age. Her daughter Francesca was blessed to be by her side until she took her final breath. Maria was born in Grimaldi, Calabria, Italy. She emigrated to Canada in 1954 and soon found employment at Windsor Textiles. She is reunited with her loving husband Giovanni (2009). Cherished sister of the late Domenico (1959), the late Benita (1948), Italo (Georgette) Rose, Edda Spadafora (late Giuseppe) and Marcello (Uga) Rose. Dear sister-in-law of Lina Cardone (late Rocco), the late Rosina Martino, the late Antonio Martino (late Maria), and the late Giuseppina Tassitino (late John). Beloved Zia of many nieces and nephews in Windsor, Michigan and California. She will be greatly missed by her cousins in British Columbia. My mother had a deep faith. Her greatest enjoyment was being surrounded by family and feeding them. She was known to make the best lasagna. You could not leave her house without having an espresso, a fruit or a cookie. A special thank you to the Doctors and nurses on 5 North at WRH- Met Campus for your exceptional care. A private Funeral Service has been held. Arrangements entrusted to WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Avenue. In memory of Maria, memorial donations may be made to St. Angela Merici Church or to a charity of your choice. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
