Obituary of Dorothy Anne Kungel
KUNGEL, Dorothy (nee Soulliere)
July 2, 1939 -March 13, 2021
81 years, passed away at Met Hospital. “Her fight was strong but her body was weak." Beloved wife to the late John Kungel (1999). Survived by her sisters Elaine Garant (late Ernie) and Vicki Pawlowski (John). Sister-in-laws Rose Soulliere, Linda Soulliere, Connie Kungel and brother-in-law Gary Snyder. Stepmother to Sue Ann Kainz (Jim). Dorothy will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, cousins and their families and especially by her Goddaughter Lori. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her many friends she made over the years including The Poolettes, The Barcelona Gang, TOPS, and her friends from Mississauga among others. She is predeceased by her parents Maurice and Ida Soulliere and siblings Moe Soulliere (Deanna), Jim Soulliere (June), John Soulliere (Deanna), Mary Leona Snyder, Paul Soulliere, Billy Soulliere (Carol), Cathy Malette (Al), Patrick Soulliere, and Charlie Soulliere. In-laws Susanne Woodrow and Frank Kungel.
Dorothy worked as a teacher for the Windsor Separate School Board for 7 years before moving to Mississauga where she worked as a Compensation Advisor at Human Resource Development Canada. She returned to her hometown of Windsor when she retired. Dorothy was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and a long-time member of the CWL always helping out wherever needed. Dorothy was known for sending greeting cards to all her family, friends and even their pets for many occasions. The family is deeply grateful for Vicki and many caregivers who looked after Dorothy during the last couple of years.
Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519-253-7234 on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Parish prayers and CWL prayers Tuesday at 3:30pm.Visiting will continue on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (834 Raymo Rd.) Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Reservations and masks are required to attend Visitation, Funeral Mass and Cemetery Services.
