Obituary of Ronald Rampersad

With heavy hearts we share the passing of Ronald Rampersad on Friday March 12, 2021 at the age of 65.
He is now reunited with his parents, Father Dharamraj Rampersad and Mother Girlie Dattoo, along with many others. He was cherished by his two younger sisters Roslind Rampersad and Charmaine Montmarquette. For 30 years he was married to Kamla Jaggernauth, together they became parents to son Rene Rampersad and daughter Kristal Rampersad.

Born on December 2, 1955 in Trinidad and Tobago, Ron nicknamed “Jack Benny” grew up surrounded by his caring family. He was known for being a jokester and pranking his cousins whenever he had the opportunity. He loved playing music with his cousins and grew a passion for steelpan at an early age. Ron immigrated to Canada in 1975, where it didn’t take him long to find the woman of his dreams, Kamla. Also, he picked up a new hobby, hockey, which he enjoyed so much that he coached junior teams in his spare time. He was a die-hard Maple Leafs fan who never wavered in his support no matter how bad. Ron adored playing cards – All Fours to be exact. You would see him stand up with victory in his eyes and hammer down the card whenever he had the chance to “hang a Jack.” He was always delighted to entertain and cook for his friends & family who came to visit and you can bet that everything he touched not only tasted great but was made with love. He was a gentle soul who was always mindful for those he cared for dearly and was most joyous seeing everyone happy around him. He built bonds with wonderful family and friends.

He could always be counted on, no matter what and worked hard to provide the best lives for us. The guidance and life long lessons we have learned from him are priceless and will remain with us forever. He taught us to live simply and to lead life with love in our hearts & peace on our minds. To always appreciate everything you have, help others and slow down & enjoy life.
