Obituary of Riccardo Cancian


It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Riccardo,  a loving husband, father and nonno, on March 8, 2021 at the age of 93.  Beloved husband to Antonietta (nee Perin), with whom he celebrated 64 years of blessed marriage.  Loving and devoted father to Roberto Cancian and wife Barbara.  Cherished nonno to Robert Cancian and Belinda Cancian.  Predeceased by parents Cesare and Maria Cancian.  Dear brother to Lia Cocchetto and late husband Bruno (2002).  Dear brother in-law to the late Aldo Perin (1999) and surviving wife Augusta, and the late Gino Perin (1994).  Adored uncle to Sandra Cocchetto, Velma Cocchetto-Picco, Rosanna Fenos; and all their families, and Andrea Perin.  Riccardo was a respected bricklayer and a 70 year member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 6.  He was also a long-time member (54 years)of the Fogolar Furlan Club.  A heartfelt thank you to our family doctor, Dr. Paul Ziter, Dr. John Yoo, Professor and Director of the Head and Neck Fellowship at London Health Sciences Center, and Dr. Richard Malthaner, Chair & Chief of the Division of Thoracic Surgery at the Schulich School of Western University, for all their exceptional and compassionate care provided to Riccardo and his family.  Riccardo always ensured that his family was taken care of with unconditional love. He was very proud of his family and all their accomplishments, especially his grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., (519) 253-7234 on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm.  Parish prayers at 4:30pm.  Funeral Service on Friday March 12, 2021 at 8:45am from the funeral home then to St. Angela Merici Church for Funeral Mass at 9:30am.  Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.  Reservations and masks are required to attend visitation, Funeral Mass and Cemetery Services.  Please call Windsor Chapel at (519) 253-7234 between the hours of 8:30am and 4:00pm to secure your reservation. As an expression of sympathy and to honour Riccardo, memorial donations may be made directly to the Windsor-Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation (2220 Kildare Rd.
