Obituary of Andreas Noestheden
There will be an empty chair at our table this Christmas. We've regrettably lost our heart and soul, our glue, our bright positive light, our bringer of crazy yard sale gifts, giver of laughs, maker of magic, developer of innovative ideas, carrier of the load and our fearless leader, Andreas Noestheden.
Andy kept us on our toes, kept it real, made it fun and never stopped trying to pull off the best pranks. His dad jokes were tiresome and over done but we loved every retelling, his energy was infectious, charismatic and contagious, he woke up a room, made friends at every turn and never left anybody out. His wife Irene of 51 years, who had to endure his sincere silliness the most, also enjoyed a deep love and lifelong friendship. They were European immigrant kids who met on a blind date, introduced to each other by friends because they both came to Canada on a boat. The rest is just magic.
A mind of awesome depth, he worked for 46 years at Valiant and considered his work people "part of the family”. He loved to be busy, needed, creating and tinkering. When he retired, his ever entrepreneurial self went straight back to work from his home shop, fixing the manufacturing problems of local industrial businesses with ease. Andy saw things in great detail in his mind, he never stopped trying to figure out a better way, a greater invention or a different angle to solve an existing issue. He had multiple patents bearing his name and many more to finish.
Andre, Andy, Dad, Poppy, Mr. Noestheden, Mr. Andy, he answered us all in every way he could. His many lifelong friendships were treasured to this very day.
A Celebration of Andy's Life will take place on Saturday, January 4th at Mackenzie Hall between the hours of 1-5pm. Join us for an open mic and mingle. Let's talk ALL ABOUT ANDY. You know he'll love it. Please don’t expect anything too fancy because we all know he was “on a fixed income!” ;)
We would also like to do an open call to all the recipients of one or many of Andy’s garage sale gifts to be showcased in the gallery during this celebration. If possible, please email photos of these timeless treasures to: dutchsquirrelon@gmail.com.
Happy trails,
The Noestheden's
