Obituary of Michael Kosyk
KOSYK, Michael
April 9, 1924 – January 15, 2020
Born in Nasvyska, Western Ukraine, he immigrated to Canada to join his father in 1938 at the age of 14 with his mother and brother. They settled in Anderdon Township in Essex county and established a family farm. Michael loved the land and took to farming naturally. He often spoke of missing the days of horse-drawn implements but kept current with modern farm practices. When he met and married Anna, they grew their farm and family over the years and established themselves as well respected members of the farming community and their faith community in the Ukrainian Catholic and Orthodox churches. He was a man of strong will, work ethic and didn't hesitate to share his opinion. Mike would often comment that life could be hard but that God would always help. Predeceased by his beloved wife Anna (2018). Father to Michael (Roma) and late Mary (2008). Grandfather to Patrick, Andrea and Talia and late Christopher (2012). Predeceased by parents Onufry and Eudokia. Brother of Dmytro (Nina), uncle to Peter (Katherine), Bill (Catherine) and Sonya and cousin to Bill, Tom and John Neilipovitz and families.
