Obituary of Grete Pieczonka

At a dear age of 98, Grete passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Extendicare Long Term Care in Tecumseh. Born May 1, 1921 in Recklinghausen, Germany, Grete came to Canada as a young mom with great hopes for a better life in her new world. Beloved wife of the late Werner Pieczonka (1987), dear sister of her late twin brother Hans (2010) and proud Tante to Annegret (Heinz) in Germany. Cherished mother to her dear son, the late Reinhart (2007 (Joan), her second son Norman who lives in B.C. and her daughter Irene (Andy) here in Tecumseh. Treasured Omi (grandmother) of Marne (Bill) and Michael Noestheden (Laura), Nik (Leisa) and Kris Pieczonka (Katie) and Alexander and Selina Pieczonka in B.C. Cherished Omi-City of Liam, Lukas and Henry. Her pride of her German heritage brought forth this marvellous gift of cooking and baking which we so appreciated and luckily, she shared with her family throughout her long life. The family wishes to extend a very special thanks to all of the staff at Extendicare Tecumseh for their care, compassion, and support during her 7 year stay. In lieu of flowers, Grete’s wishes are that her memory be celebrated by performing an act of kindness.
