Obituary of Eleanore Oncea (nee Cuku)

Passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by husband Mitchell (July 14, 2018) and survived by children Michelle, Marcie, Mitchell and Ian. Dear grandmother of Corey, Alaina, Cristina, Rebecca, Mackenzie, Scott, and great grandchildren Jayna and Danah and her sister Marie Donison. Predeceased by her parents Annie (nee Dragu) and Van Cuku, and sister Sandy Gignac. Her family immigrated to Canada from Romania in the early 1900’s. They settled in Saskatchewan where they built houses, cleared the land, raised families and later relocated to Windsor, ON. Eleanore was an active member of the ladies auxilliary for many years at St. George’s Romanian Orthodox Church and Graiul Romanesc. She was an excellent cook/baker and made the best butter tarts. She was proud of her Romanian heritage and hand made all of the costumes for the dance group Rapsodia. Eleanore worked at Windsor Raceway for many years where she made life long friends. Thank you to Lifetimes on Riverside Retirement Home where she received excellent care during the last few months of her life. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519-253-7234 on Monday September 30, 2019 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Parish prayers at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 9:00a.m. until time of chapel service at 10:00a.m.. Interment to follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
