Obituary of Mark Frank Kalbol

Mark F.Kalbol Sr. passed suddenly on July 31, 2019 at the age of 82. Devoted husband of the late Judith Kalbol (Nee Dowdell) 1995. Adored father of the late Katherine Girard (2009) Mark Kalbol Jr and Deb, Karen Waddell, Kristine Vorshuk, Kelly and Scott Matis. Loving Oompa (Grandpa) to Jerry Girard and Kari, Joseph Pottie, Michael and Samantha Waddell, Brett and Neil Vorshuk, Ryley and Mackenzey Matis. Cherished Great Grandpa of Cameron and soon to be Cooper (Sept 2019), Oliver and Liam. Mark was predeceased by his loving parents Mary (Nee Kosa) and John Sr. Also predeceased by the late Ivy Dowdell Gibb, Joseph Dowdell and Robert Gibb. Beloved brother to Leonard and the late Theresa Kalbol , the late John and Sheila Kalbol and his only sister Mary-Ann and Brian Adlam. Brother in law to the late Ruth Clarke and husband Ted, the late Lynn Croft, Carol (Fred) Tellier and Linda (Gerry) Newman. Also survived by many cousins, here and out west, and several nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Lestock Saskatchewan. Mark was the former owner / operator of Horseshoe Battery & Electric Service on Tecumseh Rd E and Marentette. Affectionately known as the “Carburetor Man” and previous partner in Checkered Flag Speedway. In his day he was a car enthusiast, an avid golfer and enjoyed many wonderful vacations with family. He loved making his rounds visiting with those he loved. Mark was the greatest story-teller around. Ask one of us about John Wayne. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Ave 519.253.7234 on Sunday August 4, 2019 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Service is being held Sunday August 4, 2019 in the chapel at 7:30pm. Private burial to take place at Victoria Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The House of Sophrosyne in honour of his daughter Katherine or a Charity of your choice.
