Obituary of Maria Venerus

March 24, 1912 – July 26, 2019 (107 years) Maria was #38 on the list of oldest living Canadians. She will be reunited with her beloved husband of 46 years, Fabiano (1995). Devoted and loving mother to Silvio (Louise) Venerus. Proud and adored grandmother to Kevin (Christen Ebens) and Steven (Kari) and great-grandmother to Emma, Madeline, Elliot, and Amanda. Predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Luigia (nee Fantin) De Zan and her siblings, Elvira, Gentile, Gino, Antonio and Luigi. Maria’s pride and joy was her family and she loved to meet new people. As a young girl and then as an adult, she told stories and memories of WWI and WWII. She was a cancer survivor in 1987 thanks to Dr. Akpata. The family would like to extend a special thank you to WRH Met Campus – ICU and 6th floor staff, CCAC nurses & PSWs’ for their care and compassion. Also a heartfelt thank you to Dr. J Dattilo for all of the house calls and care over the years. To all of mom’s friends and neighbours for all of the visits and shared time with her, we thank you. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd E 519.253.7234 on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 6 to 9pm. Parish Prayers at 6:30pm. Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 2, 2019 at 10:15am and then to St Angela Merici Parish for 11am Funeral Mass. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
