Obituary of Ante Pudar
PUDAR, Ante
Ante Pudar of Windsor, Ontario, age 87, died on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia due to post-surgery complications. Ante was born in Velic, Croatia to Nikola Pudar and Kata Maric. He began working at a very early age to help support his family. At 17, he journeyed to Zemun to learn a trade. After a stint in the army, he decided to immigrate to Canada to earn a better living, calling it home for most of his adult life. He courted his late wife Ana (Tokic) through letters sent back to Croatia. Once she arrived, they spent the next 57 years together.

Those who worked with Ante at GM’s Transmission Plant in Windsor admired both his skills as a millwright and his work ethic. He could fix anything. And he could grow anything. Despite Windsor’s cold winters and clay-like soil, even huge fig trees thrived for him! His backyard was also a testament to his engineering skills, boasting a home-made irrigation system that stored rainwater in old plastic barrels and distributed it to his amazing garden, as well as fruit trees grafted together, laden not only with fruit but also with bird houses and feed.

He is survived by his beloved sons: Nick (Pam) Pudar of Farmington Hills, Michigan, and Johnny (Tracey) Pudar of Prince George, British Columbia; grandchildren Paul (Rebecca) Pudar of Calgary, Alberta, James (Melissa Cho) Pudar of Ann Arbor, MI and Julia Pudar of East Lansing, Michigan; and great grandchild Oskar Pudar of Calgary, Alberta.

Due to Covid-19 and current restrictions, the family of Ante Pudar will not be having any visitation or funeral services to ensure the safety of their family and friends, The family will be announcing a Celebration of Life Service to honour Ante at a later date when conditions permit family and friends the opportunity to gather together. Ante will be reunited and entombed with his beloved wife, Ana, at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
