Obituary of Milan Parici

PARICI, Milan “Mike” Mike passed on July 11, 2019, born in Hran Slovakia on October 22, 1937. Beloved husband of Noreen (nee Finnerty) for 36 years. Predeceased by parents Andrew Parici (1984) and Anna Roman (1973). Survived by brother Andy (Denise Crowe), niece Samantha LaCroce (Dr. Michael), nephew Danny Parici, great-nephew Liam LaCroce (born July 11, 2019) and sister-in-law Juleta Lauzon (Edward 2018). Predeceased by Joanne Redmond (2018) (Michael Cassar [2018]), Leslie Finnerty (2018) (Isobel[2016]), and Patrick Finnerty (2015) (Claudette [2016]). Mike was born in war torn Europe at the onset of WWII, an event that was extremely disruptive to his family. He spent summers on the soccer fields of his maternal grandfather’s farm in Slovakia and when thirsty, he could coax certain cows with sugar beets to give him a warm drink of milk. He attended school under the new communist regime and was finally reunited in 1951 with his father, who had settled in Windsor after horrendous war experiences. He was enrolled at Holy Rosary School where the nuns commandeered Mary Boldizar (Jacko) to help him learn English and integrate into Canadian society. This resulted in a lifelong friendship. Mike was an avid athelete, participating in baseball, football, bowling and played soccer for Teutonia for 10 years. When his stamina waned, he found golf and it became his passion. He was a member of Essex Golf and Country Club for 38 years where he found a second home and developed a community of friends. Mike was a Tool and Die Maker who served in management positions for Canadian Engineering, Valiant and Inspectionair Gauge. He cherished his many friends who admired his honesty, pragmatism and logic, referring to him as “the voice of reason”. A social extrovert, Mike enjoyed his 45 years of bachelorhood but embraced marriage wholeheartedly with Noreen Finnerty in 1983. Mike was confident, unpretentious and forever grateful for his prosperous life in Canada. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Ave. 519-253-7234, on Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, July 19, 2019 at Sts.
