Obituary of Irena Armata

Jan 9, 1925 – May 31, 2019 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother at the age of 94. Predeceased by husband, Jan Zygmunt Armata. Loving mother of Maria, (late) Marek (Barbara), Anna Mallat (Richard) and Matthew (Mary). Cherished Babcia of Andrew, Allison, Laura, Stephanie, Christopher and Amanda. Predeceased by siblings Halina of Poland, Edmund of Chicago and Kazimierz of London, England. Irena was a World War II veteran serving in the military with the Allied forces, Polish transportation company 316-P.S.K. under British command. Service ended in England 1949. She emigrated to Canada with her husband and three children in 1956. Irena will always be remembered by her unconditional love of her family passing on Polish traditions to children and grandchildren. She enjoyed weaving, carving, reading, gardening, needle work and cottage life. She was a past member of Ontario’s Weavers Association and the Sunparlour Woodcarvers. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Ave. 519-253-7234, on Wednesday June 5, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. Prayers Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services Thursday June 6, 2019 at 9:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home, then to Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Parish (1035 Ellis St E.) for Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. In memory of Irena, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Windsor-Essex County or the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.
