Obituary of Piara Dhamrait

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Piara Dhamrait at the age of 95 on December 8, 2020. Dear husband of 74 years to Kaushalya . The cherished father to Bimla (late Ram), Gurdev (Kuldip), Kulwant (Ranjit), Pushpa (Surinder) and Sita. Adored grandfather to 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Piara spent his early years in the Military and worked on the India Railway. He then continued his employment in Canada as a labourer until he retired. He always showed his strength and determination. He fought with everything he had until his last day. He took his last breath peacefully with Bimla by his side. Piara and Kaushalya immigrated to Canada in 1981 where they built their life together surrounded by the love and support of their family. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. It was often joked that he was just a kid himself with his easy going and fun attitude along with the mischief he would cause with the kids. He would even be seen riding his bicycle throughout the city despite his injured knees. Nothing could keep him from doing what he loved. The biggest heartfelt thank you goes out to the Nurses, Doctors, and Respiratory Therapists. Specifically the team at Met ER and 4North for doing all you could to save him and for making him comfortable in his final days. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
