Obituary of Nelson Lachance
LACHANCE, Nelson “Barney” Joseph
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Nelson ‘Barney’ Joseph Lachance in Windsor, ON on April 17, 2019 at the age of 78. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Gail (Grennan), and by sons Bradley and wife Deborah (Black), and Steven and wife Miwako (Tsuji), and grandchildren Maxwell, Rawley, Sophie, Nina, and Maya. He is also survived by his brothers Patrick, John and Wendi, and Michael and Wanda, as well as in-laws Wayne and Eleanor Grennan, and Brian and Linda Grennan, and their families and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents Nelson and Carmel (Janisse), brother Leonard, sister Carolyn, nephew Gary, and sister-in-law Joyce.
Born in Halifax, NS on December 18, 1940 Nelson ‘Barney’ proudly served his country in the Royal Canadian Navy, Air Force and Commissionaires both at home and abroad for 23 years. He enjoyed fishing and working around the house and on his cars, however his true passion was taking care of and spending time with his family. Nelson ‘Barney’ was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Lower Sackville, NS and Tecumseh, ON.
The family extends a special thank you to the EMTs and Medical staff at the WRH MET and Ouellette Campuses, especially those at the CCU. Also, thank you to the Royal Canadian Legion – Tecumseh, ON branch for their help with the memorial service. Memorial visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel (BANWELL CHAPEL) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519-253-7234 on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10:30am – 12:30pm. A Funeral Service under the Auspices of the Windsor Veteran's Memorial Services Committee will take place at 12:30pm. If desired, donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a Charity of your Choice.
