Obituary of Giuseppa Landa

Heaven gained a special angel on Saturday March 2nd, 2019. After blessing us with a full life of 95 years, our charismatic Giuseppa Landa (Marchese) left us to join the love of her life, Gaspare Landa. Master of taralli cookies and homemade pasta served on the board, she was the queen in the kitchen, even when she wasn’t cooking. She was a bold and unapologetically authentic woman born and raised in Roccamena, Italy. She immigrated to Windsor in 1957 to start a new life with her beloved husband, with whom she spent the next 58 years exploring the world. She never stopped travelling, even in her 93rd year when she walked her grandchildren down the streets of Roccamena to share her childhood home. She was known for her fashion sense, always dressed complete with make-up and jewellery, and her greatest joy in life was sharing her stories with family and friends around her kitchen table. Adoring mother to Rose and husband Rob Lesperance, Benny and husband Angelo Carnevale, Angela and husband Pat Dunn. She was, and always will be the proud Nonna to nine grandchildren: Tyler (Katy), Jessica (Boris), Nathan, Austin, Jasmyne (Jeff), Ali (Darin), Christian, Zakari and Lyjah. The most recent light of her life is one-year-old darling popetto, Junah. Beloved daughter of the late Benedetta and late Gaspare Marchese. Dear sister of Catarina and late Pietro Bonura; late Maria and late Pietro Foto; late Enza and late Giuseppe Franzella; late Pasquale and Rosalia Marchese. Daughter-in-law of late Tomasso and late Rosa Landa. Dear sister-in-law of Gioacchino (Giuseppina) Landa and late Angelina (Paolo) Antico. Giuseppina will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to extend gratitude to the numerous caregivers who provided compassionate in-home care over the last 10 years. Nonna, "we lova you too much!". E (519-253-7234) on Wednesday March 6, 2019 from 3 -5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Service on Thursday March 7, 2019 at 8:45 am from the funeral home, then to St. Angela Merici Church (980 Louis Ave.) for the Funeral Mass at 9:30 am. Entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In memory of Giuseppa, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
