As the Class of '70 approaches its 50th anniversary I recall so clearly all the work that Bob did in making our 40th such a great success. While I was notionally the Chair of the Reunion Committee it was Bob who was the engine who pulled it all together; all without fanfare in his usual low- key capable way. Bob always brought a smile to my face as I knew that something funny was coming down soon. He will be well- remembered at our 50th this summer. Best wishes to Maureen.

It is with sadness that we learned of Bob's passing. I got to know Bob through golfing. I was always happy when I was lucky enough to be in his foursome. Humorous and encouraging, he was a delight to golf with him. We, Veronica and I got to know Bob better while enjoying an outing for breakfast with Maureen and sometimes Jenny. He was always a gentleman and an all round good guy. We are so very sorry for your loss Maureen, David and Donald. We send sincere condolences. May God hold him close.

I was sorry to learn of Bob's passing. I think back to our university days at Windsor. Bob was a little bit older than the rest of us and as a result brought a little bit class to the rest of us. Bob was like having a big brother. Bob had a unique smile and always had that special look in his eye. Bob Jacques-a two word definition of a gentleman. He will be missed. Bob's family has been and will continue to be in my thoughts. Gus Mumby

My sincerest condolences to Maureen and family. I had not seen Bob since our Class of 70 graduation but bumped into him at a baseball tournament in Belle River many years ago and had a great time reminiscing about how our time at U of W impacted our lives and careers. He still had that relaxed demeanor.

Bob (Jakesy) and I met at U of W in the late 60's and began a friendship that scanned almost 50 years. As off campus room mates, we had many good times ......pursuing our B Comm degrees, playing a lot of college sports and quenching our thirst at the DH, trying to cover our costs by playing shuffleboard against a few of our mates. Bob loved to play every sport the school offered and he, John Baker, Bob Smith, myself and other Class of '70 guys were awarded the first Intermural sports participation award just prior to graduation. After graduation, Bob and Maureen were married in Windsor and we attended a huge Ukranian wedding . Maureen would have to explain all the customs that were followed, but we do dimly remember many toasts and passing beneath many loaves of bread in the receiving line. Bob later reciprocated by being best man at mine and Gail's wedding. When Maureen gave birth to Donald and David, we had many enjoyable visits, and our son Jeff always enjoyed their company. Typically the boys would be up by 6 a.m. looking for breakfast and some entertainment. No one had a more positive attitude than Bob, and he always enjoyed a joke and a good time. He strongly supported his alumni in the 5 year weekend events and loved to golf in the annual 'tournament' played at many different courses along the 401. We will always hold him close to our hearts and wish Maureen and her family all the best in the future. Brian & Gail Browne
