DESJARDINS, Roy PaulPassed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 14, 2018 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Doreen for 51 years. Cherished father of Ren"e and Danielle (David Koloff). Loving P"p" to Roy Nickolas. Predeceased by his parents Agnes and Lawrence Desjardins. Survived by his siblings Albemy (late Bev), James (Ellen), Mary Margaret Martinello (Dan). Predeceased by brothers Bernard (Evelyn) and Daniel (Mary). Brother in-law to Don Ducharme (Paulette) and Deanna Vickerman ( late Pat). Roy owned and operated Lakeview Marine and Sports for over 42 years. As a true entrepreneur with a deep love for business, Roy was involved in many ventures: Sea and Ski Marine, E-Z Store, Lakeview Marine (London), Bingo City, Marina East (now Sand Bar), Mill Cove Marina, Chapel of Angels Funeral Home, Magicuts, Island Ferry Service and Bonzai Boats. Roy is the co-founder of IRIS House Residential Inns and Services. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 261. We wish to thank the caregivers of Paramed who helped Roy in his struggle with Parkinsons. We would also like to thank the kind and devoted nursing staff on 6N Met Campus, and Dr. David Paterson. Roy loved life and especially time with his family. Visiting at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Road E, 519-253-7234 on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. A Veterans' Service under the auspices of the Windsor Veterans' Memorial Services Committee will be held at 7:00 p.m, followed by Words of Remembrance at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Ste. Anne's Church (Tecumseh) at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the IRIS Residential Inns and Services would be greatly appreciated.
